  1. thelitmeister Says:

    1. The protagonist has a very healthy imagination. [Trait]

We can tell from the number of fantasy sequences in the film which represent his imagination. [Evidence]

  2. Hannah and Geraldine Says:

    1) The protaganist is superficial person. To him, you need super powers to be a hero, and without it he was just an ordinary person, when he might be one to others unknowingly.

    2) The protaganist is ambitious. He hung on to his childhood dream to be a superhero, he perservered even though people mocked him and claimed that being a hero was impossible.

    3) Finally, he is also hopeful. He keeps screaming in his head, always hoping that someone would hear him and react to the scream.

  3. My Care Says:

    1) The protagonist is very ambitious.

Since young, he had persevered to find his “superpower” and never gave up despite failures and being a grown up.

    2)He is creative.

In order to find his “superpower”, he posted a notice finding a nemesis so that the enemy could help the protagonist to find his power. Who would’ve thought of that?!?!?!?!

    3)He is a positive person.

He glady accepted the fact that he lacks superpower and being a hero does not mean you have to have powers.

  4. My Care Says:

This is from MY & CARE ((:

    1) The protagonist is very ambitious.

Since young, he had persevered to find his “superpower” and never gave up despite failures and being a grown up.

    2)He is creative.

In order to find his “superpower”, he posted a notice finding a nemesis so that the enemy could help the protagonist to find his power. Who would’ve thought of that?!?!?!?!

    3)He is a positive person.

He glady accepted the fact that he lacks superpower and being a hero does not mean you have to have powers.

  5. 1) He is foolish
It can be seen from how he thinks he can ‘teleport’, has superstrength, ‘control time’, ‘fly’, etc.
    2) He is very immaginative
It can be seen from the fact that he tries to find out what ‘superpowers’ he has and tries to find out if there is anyone who can read minds by screaming in his head.
    3) He is childish
It can be seen from the fact that he puts up an advertisment to seek out a nemesis to help each other find out what superpowers they have. It is also seen from the fact that he tries to scream to find someone who can read his mind and help him find his ‘superpower’.

  6. Cheryl (: & Cherie Says:

    1. The protagonist has a vivid imagination, undying perseverance and a passion for something extraordinary since he was a child.

    2. When he was young, he thought that it was possible to turn invisible, that he could control time; and he imagined that he could teleport; with these things being impossible and only fictional.

He never gave up his dream of discovering his ‘super powers’ through methods such as finding a nemesis. He also, despite all of his growth abnormalities, still lived through it.

He is potrayed as an ambitious man, wanting to achieve something superficial, something extrodinary. He still never gave up; and tried screaming in his head more than once, hoping that one day his passion for discovering the essence of super powers, and finding it at the end of the film, during his bus ride; after he realised that he doesn’t need to be someone special to be a hero.

    3. The protagonist is potrayed to be a boring man, someone you’d see every day. However, as the story progresses, it seems that he has intrigued the other character, his ‘nemesis’ to also stick with the idea of discovering super powers together, in a quest of achieving their dreams, which seem unrealistic.

  7. -he is very imaginative as he would think of extraordinary powers and would put it in his daily life. from the part when he thought of being batman and robinhood , and trying to “fly” from a height.
-he is also immature as he fought with the other guy in the public, in the broad daylight and in which most adults will not do.
-he is easily influenced by people as he believed the paramedic’s words(saying that he is a hero), without having second thoughts about it .

  8. Amelina, Joycelyn, Rozan, Alicia Says:

    1) He is a very childish and innocent person, who believes he has supernatural powers.

He showed his butt in public and even tried to bang a door that was blocked from the outside by a chair.

    2) He is willing to do anything to be a hero.

He looked very happy to be called a hero by the paramedic, and even asked his friend to confirm that fact.

    3) He has the courage to do things publicly.

He put up a notice asking someone to test him for superpowers, and when someone called, he agreed immediately.

  9. Samantha Phua & Low Zi Xuan Says:

    1) He has a vivid imagination. He aspires to become a hero with many superpowers. However, in reality, there are no such people with extraordinary powers. He also thinks that people could read his mind by screaming in his head.

    2) He is gullible as he believes that he could gain powers like teleportation, controlling time and being invisible. He did not notice that he added salt in his coffee, thus telling us that he is unobservant too. He should check what he was holding before adding it to his food.

    3) He is very particular. He was stunned when the other character actually ordered pizza with pineapple. Thus, we can conclude that he is very fussy as unimportant matters like having pineapple bits in his food bothers him greatly.

  10. Yvette & Marilyn Says:

The protagonist is deluded from reality. He repeatedly tries to prove to himself that he is different from others but to no avail. He is in his own small little world, shut off from the outside.

He is childish and naive even when he is a grown-up man. he accused others of being childish when they wore their underwear outside, but the fact that he threw his underwear away and ran around bare proves that he is more immature than others and that is the mindset of a small, childish, complacent and narrow-minded kid.

However, he is open to possibilities and has a cheerful mindset. Thus, he is an extrovert and able to meet new people and friends. He eventually found out that he doesn’t need to have superpowers to be special and that is mature thinking. Thus, he has improved from his childish ambitions.

  12. We feel that the protagonist is very imaginative, and that is portryed as childishness at some points of the film, despite the fact that he’s a grown man.(Trait)

He still believes that he possess super powers, which is quite immature in our point of view. This is displayed in a few of the fantasy sequences in the film.

Next, we feel that he is a determined person, as he did not give up on his belief and he made an effort to look for a nemesis.

This is shown when he says “But I will not give up, i know I will find my powers” (evidence)

Lastly, we feel that he is stuck in his fantasy which sometimes is an advantage.(trait)

He did not have to help that old lady but he did which shows that he has become so immersed in his dream of becoming a superhero, that he displays the qualities of one too.(evidence)

  13. Rachna & Pearline & Xiao Jie Says:

    1.

    (a) The protagonist is a very determined person. [Trait]

    (b) The above trait could be seen through his childhood experiences that he never ceases to try to become ‘a superhero’ even after seriously hurting himself. Even decades later, he still persisted in finding his inner ‘power’; putting up notices around which he thinks is able to help him achieve what he has always been working for — seeking the ‘superhero’ in himself. Therefore, I think that he is a very determined person in achieving what he sets out to do.[Evidence]

    2.

    (a) The protagonist is eager to find out what his superpowers
    are.[Trait]

    (b) It is shown through him trying to be different from other normal children when he was young such as jumping off a wall, imagining himself being able to teleport himself when he couldn’t and when he was older,he wanted a showdown between someone else who can help to reveal what his superpowers are.[Evidence]

    – Pearline

    3.

    (a) The protagonist is a short-tempered man.[Trait]

    (b) When the man sitting with the protagonist ordered a pizza with pineapples, the protagonist got angry instantly. And when the other man threw a piece of pineapple at the protagonist, he ran after him and shouted too. This shows that the protagonist was unable to control his anger and immediately displayed his anger. Hence, I can conclude that the protagonist possesses the trait of being a short-tempered man.

  14. Zhen Rong and Vanessa Says:

    He never gives up .
Evidence: He still wants his superpowers and tries several ways to find it even if it means injuries.Despite setbacks and failures, he never gives up on finding his superpowers.

    He is childish.
Evidence: In one scene where they were ordering pizza, his nemesis orders pineapples and he throws a temper. The filmmaker uses a close-up shot throughout that scene to emphasise on both of their facial expressions.

    He helps others in need.
Evidence: When he saw the old woman on the ground, he immediately stopped what he was doing and rushed to help the old woman, which shows that he actually wants superpowers not only for himself , but to be able to actually contribute to the society too.

  15. Chloe Neo & Sophie Mathew Says:

The protagonist is determined man. He desperately put up a poster to find a nemesis so that he can discover his superpowers.
He has a wild imagination, and likes to be “trapped” in his own world – his mind. He constantly talks to himself in his mind. He keeps thinking that there was something special about him, like he could be invisible , thats why he runs around naked, he also thinks that he can teleport and control time.
He is young at heart, running around naked and waiting to be caught. When his nemesis plays pranks on him, he does not take it seriously.

P.S. We think his scream is really cool. ARGHHHH. (:

    Chloe & Sophie
The cool dudettes. (: (NOLAH. KIDDINGonly!)

  16. Tan Shan Shan & Ong Shu Jin Says:

The protagonist is not yet matured in mind. He still believes in his supernatural powers of controling time and teleporting to places and being invisible. He was influenced as a kid by superhero shows that he watched when he was young. As an adult, he still watches such shows that influence his way of thinking, such as “Heroes”. This shows his child like thinking.

The protagonist is unique in his thinking and behaviour. As a kid, other boys like himself also plays superheroes. But for him, he likes to stand out. So unlike other boys, who either wore their underpants on the outside or on their heads, he didn’t wear anything. This showed that he tries to be different from other kids to stand out. And that shows his uniqueness.

    The protagonist (not done yet)

  17. Carolyn(: and Susanna(: Says:

    1. The protagonist is very creative and imaginative. (Trait)

We can tell from his fantasies about having super powers, which is a trait carried over from his childhood to his adulthood. Though it is not humanly possbile, and though he is a working adult, he firmly holds on to his beliefs despite it not being common for someone with his place in society. (Evidence)

    2. The protagonist is also very introverted. (Trait)

He never had much friends and never interacted with anybody else, both as a child and as an adult, even though he studied and went to work like everybody else. (Evidence)

  18. Taylor Chia and Nadine Ng Says:

    Traits and Explanations:
    1. The protagonist has a vivid imagination.
Exp: He constantly imagined himself with many superpowers and envisioned himself as a superhero.

    2. The protagonist is a risk taker.
Exp: He tried many stunts when he was younger and hurt himself to the extent to where he broke his arms once. He is not afraid to take a few risks as he believes he is special.

    3. He has a high self esteem as he, despite failing to find a superpower, continues to persevere despite how ridiculous and childish his attempts are becoming.

  19. Andrea and Min Ru Says:

    1) his sense of reality and fiction is blurred. he believes that superpowers exist even when there is ample evidence to the contrary. he once tried to fly, tried to stop time, and teleport, when an ordinary person’s common sense would tell them otherwise.

    2) he is still stuck in the remnants of his past childhood, and is probably fighting with himself to stay true to his beliefs. even as a child he was obsessed with and strongly desired superpowers, he did not care if he was different from the others, but was instead proud of it. this carried on into his adulthood, and is probably the reason why he is still in this state at his age. this proves that he still holds the traits that he did when he was a child.

    3) he has a very determined mindset. even after so many failures, he still kept trying to find superpowers that he believed existed.

    Andrea & MinRu

  20. In the film, the protagonist has shown traits like determination, creativity, imaginative. Unlike others, he would go to extreme to achieve his dream.

(1)The fact that he has persevered for many years, believing that he is special and trying to discover his superpower suggests that he is determined and has a vivid imagination. Since young, he has believed that he has a hidden superpower but has yet to unleash it. He was so determined to achieve it that he even hired a nemesis to help him out by testing him towards different situations in life. This shows how determined he was, as after so many attempts in finding his superpowers, he still did not throw in the towel and subdued to his fate.

    (2) He is also very creative as he is able to think of different angles in solving the problem. If he could not jump over the hurdle in one way, he would think of an alternative solution to overcome the problem. It is the same meaning of having a helicopter view as he could see a bigger solution rather than a pathetic one. His creativity can be proven by his attempt in getting out of his house since he is being locked inside. Instead of barging at his door continuously, he went out through the other way, from the window. Therefore, this shows that he has a creative mind as he is able to consider all possibilities to solving a problem posed out to him.

    (3) Moreover, he has an imaginative mind which is mostly seen in young children as they are more innocent and gullible. Unlike other adults, he likes to envision himself having superpowers which would make him special and different from others. He wants to be unique and to be able to outstand the crowd. Since young, he loves to enclose himself in his own world where he has the power to fly, teleport and to control time. Another example that support my statement in which he wants to be special is when he ran around stark naked in a supermarket, instead of wearing his briefs out or on his head like the others young boys. Thus all this prove my point that he has a wild imagination and that he wants to be special.
